PRAYER FOR THE MILITARY: Dear Lord, there is a young man or woman far from home, called to serve their nation in a time of war; sent to defend our freedom on some distant foreign shore. We pray You keep them safe. We pray You keep them strong, we pray You send them safely home, for they’ve been away so long. Bless those who await their safe return and those who mourn the lost. Bless those who serve this Country well, no matter what the cost. God, bless America and her heroes … and thank You for the privilege to serve. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR HEALING: Kathy Howe has been diagnosed with chronic acute leukemia and will start chemo Oct 23, Linda Knull’s sciatic nerve is causing problems with standing, Moe Graham’s granddaughter home from hospital with kidney issues, Linda Ross had ear drum surgery and she is doing well, Sue Williams is having back problems, Laverne Baker is ill, Joyce Hudgens received new heart stints and blood transfusion, Flora Trujillo recovering from leg vein surgery, Pam Carlton has decisions about cancer treatments, Bob Shuey is ill.

Our Father, how great Thou art – You have blessed us in so many ways and we thank You – for the opportunity to unite in this moment of prayer, this special privilege we have in America. We ask Your blessing as we strive to keep America – “One Nation Under God.” Amen.

Care Packages: Marty Novak
In October, we sent 27 Care Packages. Thanks to all who came to help pack the boxes.

Thanks to our American Legion Family for the help and support they give us, to the members, non-members, groups, organizations, and business of our community for their monetary donations, memorials and donations of supplies.

Our December packages will be special with homemade cookies and candies, Christmas candy canes and other special treats. If you’d like to donate some treats, the cookies must be sturdy cookies that travel well. More about the December Care packages next month.

We do Care Packages on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Our next packing day is October 11th. We are ready to start filling the boxes about 10:15-10:30 and usually finish by 11. Anyone is welcome.

Cell Phones for Soldiers
We are no longer collecting cell phones. Homeland security will only allow me to send 3 cell phones at a time rather than sending them in the medium flat rate box. This is making it too costly to continue.
