The Soldiers say Thanks...
for the Care Packages they have received from the Post #44 Auxiliary. Post #44 Auxiliary has been sending Care Packages to the Soldiers since 2003!
Following are words of thanks for these cherished Packages:
============================================================
To all the Veterans and supports at Unit 44,
A big Thank You to the "Angels on the Homefront" My name is Will Thayer and I am deployed to Afghanistan. I am from Iowa and had the great privilege of staying with Lonnie and Shirley Hinders last March when I was at White Sands for the Baton Death March. I received a care box from Your Unit with items that we sometimes have problems getting. We do not have a PX on our FOB so we rely on supporters many times. As a solider that is deployed I would like to thank each of You that has served, and that does not mean only those that were in uniform. My wife Kathy has been there for over 30 years, many times having to deal with challenges that were much harder then mine. Those of us in uniform are just the tip of a very great weapon, without the support from home we could not be the greatest nation on earth.
Again, thank You for Your support and most of all Your prayers.

SGM Thayer visits Afghanistan Orphanage
PERFECT TIMING,
We just returned yesterday from a week on the road and there was Your support box. I am a day let in telling You thank You, I confess, I opened it in hopes there was a can of that GREAT salsa, there was. Last night I want to my room early, about 2000 and eat the whole can with some corn chips, watched part of a move and thought I was in heaven.
Again, my thanks to each of You that work so hard to give us a taste of home. Everything here is going very well, every one is safe and working hard. We are working through some changeovers in personal but other than that it's all good.
Thanks again, SGM Thayer FOB Rushmore
PS.
There is an orphanage that we have been to and if You would like to have us take some items there we would be horned to do that. The children are from about two and a half feet tall to four feet, all boys. I am not sure how to ask so the bottom line up front, they need food. They get about $250.00 every three months to buy food with, that's for all of them, not each. There are about 20 living there altogether. The man in charge said food is the hard part. We have taken them rice, beans and flour but anything fresh needs to be perched near by. If You feel You can help with moneys let me know. Kathy would be happy to help if You would like to send it to her and I can take it out over here. Thank You all again.

Dear Ladies of Auxiliary Post 44,
I would like to send my warmest wishes to you and your families during this holiday season. I would also like to send a sincere thank you to all of your generous care packages that you sent to me in Iraq. War time is a very stressful time, and the love, and energy that you put into my packages, made life in Iraq a little more tolerable. I looked forward to getting the packages and finding the surprises inside. Your generosity will never be forgotten. Thank you for everything.Sincerely,
Specialist Nicholas R. Hodges
