I want to thank everyone for making March another great month here at the Post. We had some really good meals and great entertainment. The “fun Pool” on Fridays and the monthly quest for the Elephant Trophy are both doing really well and bringing out some folks we don’t see often enough. I hope more of you will come out and enjoy the competition and the company of your comrades.

With all of your support, we are able to provide much needed help to veterans, as well as to local charities and youth programs.   So, come to the Post, enjoy the activities and contribute your time and ideas.

The time has come to nominate officers for the 2014-2015 term. If you would like to run for a position or nominate someone, contact our nominations chairman, Tom Cleveland.

Been out of town having fun in Colorado. Nothing to report at this time but if you come by the post, I’m sure you will find something fun and entertaining to catch your interest.

We will be holding post officer election next month and I will have a complete list of candidates posted in the post when I return .

Finance Officer – Dr. G. Vincent Barrett

The financial condition of the Post continues to remain sound. Although we had a small loss in February and a profit in January of $3,979 we continue with a year to date loss of approximately $1,550. Although the bar and kitchen are doing quite well gaming has had a significant turn down despite the replacement of five different machines. Although January and February months are typically somewhat slow our reserves are still adequate. The Post’s overall capital position is solid and we are meeting all financial obligations on time. I expect that the coming months will see a pickup in Post activity and revenues largely from gaming. With luck by the end of this fiscal year June 30, 2014 we should see our year to date losses erased and reserves back to reasonable levels again.

Hooray, The mesquite has budded out!!  Always a good sign of spring, shorts & Hawaiian shirts!!

Beginning on Tuesday, April 1st (& every Tuesday to follow), we will start having a Scotch Doubles Pool Tournament beginning at 4:00, so come join us for some fun competition!!  In addition to taco’s being served, hot dogs will be added to the venue.

Wednesday, April 2nd we will start our I-Pad Mini Raffle sales, a $399.00 value!!  Tickets are $5.00 each or 6 for $20.00.  That’s a real Bonanza!!  The drawing will be held on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 11th.  We will also be selling Easter Eggs with prizes inside!!  Win dinner & grill tickets, $ off coupons, drinks tickets & goodie bags and more!!  Eggs are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.  Proceeds will go to Activities so we can provide more fun activities at the Post!!

Saturday, April 5th there will be a memorial for our dear friend John “Butch” Walters at 2:00 here at the Post.

Sunday, April 6th there is a 9 Ball Tournament at 3:00 followed by a fundraiser dinner sponsored by SAL’s Deone & Donnie & Auxiliary’s Linde & Shari.

The All You Can Eat Breakfast and Bake Sale is Sat. April 12th from 8:30 – 10:00.  The Elephant Trophy Tournament will be the same day at 2:00 at VFW 1389.  Let’s get that trophy back here to the Post!!

Sunday, April 13th there will be a memorial for Rebecca Lopez.  Watch for flyers for further details.

Congrats to Rita Ritacca as our Volunteer of the Month!  Thank you, Rita, for all you do!

The monthly Bunco Party will be Thursday April 17th following the E-Board meetings at 1:00.  Don’t forget the $2.00 Margarita’s, Taco’s & Nacho’s!!

Sunday, April 20th we will celebrate Easter & April Birthday’s with a Ham & Scalloped potato’s  Buffet and pot luck sides from 1:00 to 4:00.  Doll up your Easter Bonnets for the Easter Parade!!  Carolyn will entertain us with music & karaoke.
