Newsletter – July 2015

COMMANDER Al Norton

Our officers for 2015-2016 have been elected & sworn in effective July 1st 2015. I would like to thank Bob Acre for his year of service as 2nd Vice Commander. Thank you Neil Thornton for stepping up to replace Bob. We look forward to your input this next year. Other than this change our officers remain the same as last year. The officer’s names will be posted on the board by the entrance to the club.

We have an addition to our staff. Patricia Gilbert has agreed to be our Wednesday and Friday cook to give our tired volunteers a break. We still need to rotate our volunteers to assist Patricia.

The WWII & Korean War Vets dinner went really well, thank you for your work & participation in this event.

Remember our Vets are the reason we are here. Let’s keep helping support the Vets, the Legion Family and our great nation. God Bless you all and God Bless America!

Finance Officer– Bill Conklin

At convention, no report this month, he’ll be back next month.

A big THANK YOU to all that helped with our “Tribute to WW II & Korean War Era Veterans!!”  It was a smashing success!!  We served 88 dinners and had 22 honored veteran’s here to enjoy the show!  We sure have some talented individuals among us!!  You all deserve an applause!

Congrat’s to Ginny Lucero for winning Volunteer of the Quarter!!  Enjoy your new parking spot!!  We are all very grateful for all you do for our Post!!  Thank you!

Also, thanks to all of you that have volunteered to cook these past few months!  The variety of the meals and personal touches were much appreciated!!  And, Let’s all welcome Patty Gilbert as our new Chief Cook and Bottle Washer!!  She officially takes over the kitchen duties Wednesday, July 1st, but has already completed the thankless task of cleaning the ovens, grill hood and defrosting the freezer.  She is an exemplary cook & has some great new ideas.  Once a month, she will be serving her home-made Chicken Fried Steaks, so watch the calendar.

Aries Gaming is hosting a gaming promotion to win $300, $200, and $100 Wal Mart Gift Cards.  The promotion ends Saturday, July 18th with a pot luck at 2:00 and awarding of prizes between 4:00 & 6:00 p.m.  See posters and game rules posted around the Post.  There will also be a 9 Ball Tournament that day, as well.

Mark you calendars for the Lucero Elephant Challenge, Saturday, July 25th, here at the Post.  The trophy has been bouncing back & forth between here and VFW 1389, so let’s keep it here all year!!

Again, thank you to all that support our Post activities.  Also, remember, if you have suggestions or comments, please feel free to utilize our suggestion box by the door!  See you at the Post!!
