Newsletter – May 2014

COMMANDER Vince Barrett

It is with deep sorrow that I must report, as most of our members already know, Post Commander Roy Lucero passed away on Monday April 14, 2014. Services were held in Albuquerque on April 18, 2014. Our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Ginny. Ginny has requested that Post 44 hold a memorial for Roy on May 3rd at 3pm. The memorial will be officiated by First Vice, Tom Cleveland.

On the April 17, 2014 Executive Committee elected me (Dr. Vincent Barrett) to serve out Roy’s remaining term through June 30, 2014. This was accepted by the General membership without objection on Saturday April 19, 2014.

The newly elected offices will be installed at the June 17th general meeting. On July 1, 2014 the elected offices will assume their rolls.

The 2014/2015 elected officers are as follows:

Commander

Vincent Barrett

Vice Commander Tom Cleveland

To Ginny and the family of our fallen Commander, Roy Lucero, I would like to express my deepest sympathy at their loss. He will be sorely missed. It was my honor and privilege to have served as his Vice Commander for the past two years. A memorial and celebration of life will be held at the Post on Saturday, May 3rd at 3:00 pm.

Post elections for officers in the upcoming 2014-2015 year were held at the general meeting on Saturday, April 19th.  In addition, Vincent Barrett was selected to fulfill the remaining two months term of our Post Commander.

Traditionally, the late Spring and Summer months are our most difficult revenue generating months. Please come into the Post as often as possible and participate in the many fun filled activities that have been planned by your Activities Committee.

Thanks for your continued support and hope to see you at the Post soon.

Finance Officer Dr. G. Vincent Barrett

The financial condition of the Post continues to remain sound. Although we had a small loss in February we a small profit in March of $1,206.03. However, we continue with a year to date loss of approximately $4,138.59. Although the bar and kitchen are doing quite well gaming remains below levels that we hope to see and that are required for the Post to generate a profit. Nevertheless, The Post’s overall capital position is solid and we are meeting all financial obligations on time. I expect that the coming months will see a pickup in Post activity and revenues largely from gaming. With luck by the end of this fiscal year June 30, 2014 we should see our year to date losses reduced significantly and reserves back to reasonable levels again. However at this point I do not expect that we will end up the fiscal year with a profit.

See you at the Post!
