Sons of the American Legion- Commander Gene Hill

The SAL held their monthly meeting June 21.

Membership
Member dues are coming in slowly. If you still owe dues for 2016 try and get them in as soon as possible. The 2017 membership cards will be available starting in July. You must be current with your 2016 dues to get a 2017 card.

Business
The SAL gave $1000 to the post to help in the repairs to the walk-in cooler. The walk-in now has a new compressor and everything is cool again.

The SAL is sponsoring a hole at the annual golf tournament for $100.

Events
The Brat dinner that we had on June 4th went well. Thanks to all that came out and ate.

The SAL will be doing Hamburgers and Hotdogs on the grill outside for the Christmas in July yard sale at the post. This will take place July 23 at the post. We’ll be serving from 11am to 1pm.

Meeting
The next SAL meeting will be July 19th at 6:30pm at the Post. Plan to attend and support your branch of the family.

The SAL held their monthly meeting May 17th.

Membership

Officers
Election of officers for 2017, was held at our May meeting. The officers for the SAL will remain the same as 2016. They are as follows:
Commander—-Gene Hill
1st Vice———–Deone Harty
Adjutant———Donnie Polstin
Finance Officer-William “Bill” Nenno
Sergeant at Arms-Tillman Smith
Their duties will continue starting May 18th.

Events
I hope all the Mothers had a wonderful Mother’s Day and enjoyed the Red Roses.
The Sal will be having a dinner Saturday June 4th. Brauts with potatoes salad and Sauerkraut will be served starting at 5oclock. Come on out and enjoy a good meal.

Meeting
The next SAL meeting will be June 21st. at 6:30pm at the Post. Plan to attend and support your branch of the family.

Members
Mike Rose passed away, our condolences to his family.
Theresa (Terry) Smith, wife of SAL member Tillman Smith passed away April 12. Let us keep Tillman and the family in our prayers.

Officers
We will be holding election of officers at the May meeting. Anyone interested in holding an office let me or any SAL member know. We would welcome any member who would like to get active in the SAL.

Events
Clean up at the old cemetery on April 30th at 9 am. Let’s all come out and help.

Memorial Day placing of the flags on veteran graves starting at 9 am May 28, at the new cemetery.

The Sal will be having a dinner Saturday June 4th. Rueben Sandwiches with potato salad and beans will be served. Come on out at 5 pm and enjoy a good sandwich for dinner.

The SAL will be having a special supper in May. It will be Brats on a Hoagie bun, with beans and potato salad. When a date is scheduled we will have flyers and it will be in the April newsletter.

Officers

We will be holding election of officers at the May meeting. Anyone interested in holding an office let me or any SAL member know. We would welcome any member who would like to get active in the SAL.

The Sons of the American Legion held their monthly meeting on August 18th. In attendance were Deone Hardy, Donnie Polstin, Bob Nellis, Bill Nenno, Bill Laswell and Gene Hill.September 16, 2014.

Membership

The Sons of the American Legion added five new members in August.

Make welcome new members Terence L. Zehner, Richard Lynn Camerer,

Lance Ross, John Cotton and Kristopher D. Montoya.

We have the 2016 cards in for Early Bird. We will announce the Early Bird winner on October 20th.

If you have not paid your dues for 2015 you have to be current before you can get your 2016 card.

Business

The First Responders events went well on September 11. A good time and socializing was had by all. Thanks again to all the men and women who are part of this group.

The SAL will be assisting with the dinner on Wednesday October 16th. If you are interested in helping please contact Gene Hill or any Sal member.

The Sons of the American Legion held their monthly meeting on July 21. In attendance were Deone Hardy, Donnie Polstin, Bob Nellis, Tillman Smith, Bill Nenno, and Gene Hill

 

Membership

The Sons of the American Legion added two new members in June. Make welcome F. Donald Johnson and Doug West.

We have the 2016 cards in for Early Bird. A drawing will be held on September 15, for the winner of a year membership fee.

If you have not paid your dues for 2015 you have to be current before you can get your 2016 card.

Business

August 1 Sons will be selling Hamburgers and Hot Dogs from 11 am till 2 pm during the vendors fair. Come on out, enjoy the shopping and have lunch with the Sons.

Membership
I would like to take this time to remind all members that their dues are due for 2015. We still have a number of members that haven’t renewed. The Bartenders at the post will be happy to take your money and give you a receipt. If you want your new card mailed to you be sure and make this notation on your receipt or they will be at the post.
Meals
The Post has hired a cook for the kitchen. Starting in July she will be preparing the Wednesday night meals. The SAL will be assisting her on the third Wednesday of each month.
Business
Remember we have flag poles and replacement flags for sale. We’ll be getting a new order this week so we have plenty. See your Bartenders or any members of the SAL. The cost of the Flag and poles has increased to $60.00. I hate to increase all flags, but the distributor has increased our cost to $14.00 on the individual flags. We will be increasing our price to $16.00 starting immediately.

Ron Greaves a SAL member for 14 Years passed away at his home on May 11. Let us all remember Ron in our heart and prayers.

Membership
The SAL gained 1 new member in May. Make welcome Charles Warren.

In Memory

Patrick Oberg passed away March 04, 2015. Pat was a 7 year member of the Sons of The American Legion. The Legion Family sends condolences to his wife and family.

Membership
